"This is what me and my daughter have started doing….We are keeping a "Blessing bag" in our car in case we find someone in need. You can make these up with items from the Dollar Tree such as gloves, thermal socks, beef sticks, crackers, candy bars, toothpaste, toothbrush, wipes, deodorant, snacks and other items that may help someone who is homeless or in a bad way. It is just a thoughtful, inspiring thing to do. This is something we are going to start doing from now on. Thank you to the ones that did this long before us, for being such a giving, loving, caring person! Random acts of kindness take very little to change the life of just one person." ๐ผ
What a truly wonderful idea. Had to share! ๐

To all those who posted the angry face! Screw you! There are some people who have been dealt a harsh blow, sometimes no fault of their own! If a Good Samaritan steps up, encourage them. In the blink of an eye, it could be you receiving a gift! More people should get involved. I know I will do this from now on.๐
I drove past a wrinkled old man on a street corner begging for money or ?? I drove straight to McDonalds and bought a Big Mac meal deal and took it back to him. I have never in my life seen someone’s face light up like that old man’s did. I’ve been so grateful I had the opportunity to help him.
Isn’t it awful that all of these folks are criticizing or defending someone’s kindness for another human being?
So sad.
We are taught NOT to worry about what they use the money for. It’s the act of giving and helping. You are NOT in their shoes!! God will bless you for loving them and taking care of your brother or sister.
My mom has been doing something similar for years. She puts non perishable food, shampoo, soap, and other sundries in it. When she’s out and about and see a homeless person she hands them a bag.
We rarely put money I. Ours. We do put maybe a gift cert from McDonaldโs. A tract. And a granola bar along with other hygiene products
However if they are smoking we donโt usually give one. Because if they can afford cigs they donโt need a handout
Last year we filled over 200 bags for young teens and Adult Females, been doing this for years.
This is a wonderful idea! I read the comments and it just makes me mad to see that to some people itโs all about them! If it does not benefit them then they will have no part of it! Just remember what goes around comes around! People forget where they came from! One day you might be the homeless one!
I am down sizing from a 3 bed room to a rv and we ( my so and I) have a lot of good warm hoodies and stuff so I am making bags up with a warm outfit and otber stuff from dollar store good way to clean out your closet . I will also keep pairs of warm shoes we don’t any longer need in trunk seal a meal bags with size on it just in case we see a need I will now include new socks. I might add our stuff is good and hardly worn just won’t have the space for extras soon .
I haven’t read all the comments so I apologize if I’m duplicating. You might consider old purses and along with the above include sanitary products. Perhaps a colored lip balm. Just a thought.
Excellent idea,… before l retired l used to do that alot, helping people. Most l just said for them to ‘ pass it on’, help someone else. It’s a neat thing. Main reason Y I did it was because I have been down, broke. It’s amazing what a few dollars does for an attitude when that’s all u got.
Wonderful idea! I purchase multiple umbrellas at Dollar Tree and give them to people I see walking, working, etc. in the rain. ๐
Hubby n I do same
We also do a baggy of dog food treats n bottle water
What an Awsome idea! Thanks for sharing! If we all did this it would help so many people…homeless or not! God bless you for your kindness. I knit winter scarves all year and give them out when to the ones that need some warmth when the weather begins to change!
I also carry a few slip leashes cat and dog food towels and a couple of boxes. In case I come upon a stray ๐๐๐
Hard times can happy to anyone at anytime. No one is immune. I know someone now who could never have dreamed 2 years ago that she would have stage IV cancer, be unemployed and almost homeless, but it’s true. These “Blessing Bags” are the perfect gift to show someone cares. ๐
How about adding a small bible,!
It is a great idea and where ever you stop or look there are people who could use some kindness bless you๐งก๐งก๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Fantastic idea people don’t realise it could happen to anyone xx
Make up shoeboxes instead and label adult/child female/male… they might not like everyone knowing whats in their bag. Oh and stop using plastic bags because its plastic ffs!!! You can get cheap healthy snacks, books, toiletries, torches etc, keep cups and reusable water bottles all very reasonable at discount stores now too. And this isnt a new idea… but well done for being so kind! ๐
It seems as tho’ a lot of the people on the street have dogs ๐ถ So I bought a couple of 30 pound bags of dog food. I divide the food into XLG Ziplock bags, pick up a toy from the dollar store and hand that out to the people who have dogs. I also carry all those coupon sheets from Carl’s Jr/Burger King/Del Taco/Caesar’s Pizza/etc… with me in my car and when I go get them a meal I can get more using the coupons! There are so many ways to help and after reading all the comments, I’m ecstatic to see how many people are going to start helping those people who are less fortunate!! Gold Bless you all for joining in… as the saying goes… you will be rewarded in heaven for your good deeds on earth! ๐๐ ๐
Great idea. Iโve been stopping and picking up things like that plus food. They appreciate it so much.
Our church did these and passed them out to the homeless. Love it ๐
What a great idea. There are lots of homeless people here in the central Florida area. I will do the same.
Thats a great idea — much better than giving cash — thanks – am going to start doing it tomorrow !
That is a happening this in my area. We started this some time ago. Anytime you help those in need is a good thing! It’s truly coming straight from the heart.
Great idea, shame our government can’t help.Always we the people pay for everything as they spend everything!!!
Good idea. Since needy never get ahead, either bad situations or mental illnesses. Healthy beggers, no.
I used to do this years ago putting stuff in a gently used back pack, since we lived just off I-35.It had toiletries, cap, something to hold water ,New Testament, and snacks etc.
I think this is wonderful. We keep all of the hotel soaps, shampoos etc that we collected and give them to Open Door Mission.
Oh my God! What a terrific idea I never thought of it; thanks for share. It is a rewarding thing to do
I love it
A perfect idea in an un perfect world.
