1+4=5 2+5=7+5=12 3+6=9+12=21 8+5=13+21=34 ( 34 ) is the answer…
They should use this to see if your smart enough to vote. If you got 45 you can vote
The first three equations just have wrong answers; no where does it say they are all related. 5+8=13 folks!
Shocked at ho many comments are using x (multiply). Sure looks to my old eyes to be a + (plus) sign. Answer is 34, using the pattern shown.
For the love of God — it’s 45.
Simple formula.
n(n + 4) + (n + 1) + (n + 4)
= n2 + 6n + 5
= (n + 1)(n + 5)
= (n + 1)[(n + 1)) + 4]
34, add ALL numbers together.
I was lousy in algebra but I could close a set of books, and a + sign meant to add. So I added and got the answer of 34
This thing says 97% of all people will get this wrong and almost everyone is saying 45 so this leads me to believe it is the wrong answer
45 because X+Y=XY+X . Simple Algebra. Works for one , works for all.
34 or 45 Both answers, But I actually do not see where this would ever be needed just for the fact I would never do math this way. Why would you want to confuse Children by complicating something that could be done a lot simpler..
logic. simple explanation, it say add. so, add all the numbers in between + signs. nothing fancy. just common math. you’re welcome
1 + 4 = 5
1 + 4 + 2 + 5 = 12
1 + 4 + 2 + 5 + 3 + 6 = 21
1 + 4 + 2 + 5 + 3 + 6 + 5 + 8 = ?
If someone owes me 1+4 dollars he better pay me 5 dollars. If he owes me 2+5 dollars he can pay me 7 dollars. If he owes me 3+6 dollars he can pay me 9 dollars and lastly if he owes me 5+8 dollars I expect him to pay me 13 dollars. However if this is a trick question the answer can be anything.
13…. Doesn’t matter that all the other equasions are wrong.
It asked you to solve the problem not look for patterns.
It says ‘Solve this’. It doesn’t say it’s a math problem. It’s a pattern you have to solve.
1+4=5 … then comes the pattern
The answer, 5, plus the total of the next problem 2+5 which is 7.
5+7=12 … then that answer, 12, plus the total of the next problem 3+6 which is 9
12+9=21 … then that answer, 21, plus the total of the next problem 5+8 which is 13.
21+13=34 The answer is 34
That’s because, all of your answers are wrong if you don’t believe me believe the bank when they charge you outrageous fees for being overdrawn
I noticed there are people who braved writing their answers and it bugged me, so although I have never been good with number problems I needed to know the answer!!
So the person is correct who says to add up all the numbers (after each equal sign), which is why 2+5=(1+2)+(4+5)=12
I realized the sequence is adding the numbers on each side but it was missing the 4+7=(21+11)=32
Then add in the 5+8=(32+13)=45!!
45 is correct. It is awhole series where the second number is 3 more than the first. In this case 4+7 = 32 is missing. If you know either the first or second number you can find the other two.
If your answer fits the algorithm then it’s correct. If you use a different algorithm to the original that does not make you wrong. There could be a number of answers based on the information supplied
No matter how you want to add it…on your fingers or on your toes! According to the actual picture 2+ 5 will never = 12, 3 +6 will never =21! Yes you can manipulate in your brain to change the problem but as it stands alone it’s an incorrect answer!! Yes I get it’s a puzzle but again each problem worked horizontally does not equal the answer shown!! 🙄
I got 45. That being said the correct answer is 13. Just because 2 of the 3 previous answers are wrong doesn’t change the fact that 5 + 8 = 13. If the question were posed as an “if, then” I’ll stick with 45.
34 there is a pattern total answer added to the answer of the total of the next problem/equation If you follow the pattern and assume that the 4 +7 is missing then you would be wrong the above pattern holds to what is written not hypotheticals.
The answer to the “problem ” is don’t break the pattern. Also a lot of you are forgetting basic math, multiplication first. Only a few people on here have got it right, hence 97% get it wrong.
It doesn’t ask to “follow” the pattern so if you use the facts before you, you will get one answer, if you overthink and insert information that’s not pertinent you will come up with another answer. This isn’t a math quiz.. It’s a critical thinking exercise
Wow this is one of those puzzles that could have a number of answers depending on your logic. To me the answers 32, 34 and 45 are all correct. It all depends on how you look at the puzzle. This is a really sneaky one.
When I Was in school, a + sign was addition, a × sign was multiply, a – sign was subtraction. Why have they complicated math. What I want to know is when are they going to start writing our books from the right to the left???????
But there are lots of answers though because we all don’t know what the method is some figured out that 45 is the answer and some 34..
The fact that two answers can be correct depending on how one chooses to work the problem, yet only one answer is what the subjective test giver is looking for, troubles me.
The simple pattern is multiply the second number by the first. Then add the first to sum of it… Am I splaining myself…?
Why do they put this on Facebook? Is there someone on that site that will say if our answers are right or wrong? I doubt that. So what’s the point, other that getting people to bicker that they are right.
You all need to stop googling stuff and solve what is right there infront of you. Dont go adding symbols and numbers that are clearly NOT there
The inaccuracy in this test is using an equal sign because this little test invalidates the common meaning of the equal sign.
It should be written
1+4 => 5
2+5 =>12
Etc
Then it is easy to see the pattern
X + Y = XY + X
Where the above = sign is a true = sign; meaning equality.
what ever happened to normal arithmetic aka Math ?? no wonder people can’t add with out a calculator !!!
The answer is 32. Everyone is looking so hard that’s it’s right there in front of you. 5+7=12 12+9=21 21+11=32
The guestion is “solve this _ _ _. 97% will fail “this” test. The numbers below have nothing to do with the question. The solution lies in the question “solve this”. What do _ _ _ stand for if we were to take the symbol which vaguely represents an arrow and look at it closely it is Ancient Greek = p in Ancient Greek p stood for pi = p is 3.14 hence ” solve this _ _ _. 3.14. This trick question dates back to early Babylonian history somewhere in the 435 BC time frame
If you do it the way they do, you multiply first and second number, then add first number, that gives you the answers they give. So doing the last one the same way it is 45.
Because this is stupid and makes no logical sense at all. Yea, I get it, I can pass it, I know the answer. But it is not practical.
45, if you figure it one way or 13 if you just add 5 and 8. There are no relationships given, no instructions, so do whatever—
I don’t understand how anyone could get 34, The pattern is to multiply the 2 numbers and then add on the first number???? Hence, 45?
The pattern has you adding the sum from the first line adding to the numbers in the next. For example- 1+4=5, then add the 5 from that line to the next, so 5+2+5=12, then 12+3+6=21, and finally 21+5+8 gives you 34
No wonder people can’t manage there money! This new math is ridiculous!
I been doing my check book all wrong! Dang!
this is a load of shit. the second two answers are incorrect and the fourth answer is13. you cbut that is the reality.
My answer is “lamp” because monkeys fall from houses into midgets pockets while throwing crap into horses faces……..its 45.
There is no correct answer because 5 is given two different values. The answer is there is no answer and assumptions cannot be used in this situation.
It is a number sequence, anyboby here heard of fibonacci or did we all just do maths at primary school?
If you follow the logic of the number sequnce the answer is 45.
right or wrong this is the wrong type of match that should be taught in schools when would they ever use it?
One four (4) plus the one equals five…….2 fives (10) plus the two equals twelve……3 six’s (18) plus the three equals twenty one…….5 eights (40) plus the five equals forty five ……..45….ALL DAY LONG….45
When i went to school you stayed in your grade till you pass. Thanks to no child left behind , kids are being pushed through school.
