Got to save one earlier this year,she was trapped in the foyer at the local grocer.The night manager had climbed up in one of those truck sized carts as I walked in. When I saw what was going on,I had him hand me the bird,I tucked her in my shirt n headed home. Laura n I fed her,made sure she was ok,and we took her back across the street for a release. She flew straight up,landed n after a few minutes took off,to live happily ever after. we hope
What’s sad, is they trap these beautiful little birds in nets, with bait stations, subject to stress handling and put weighted band’s on their tiny little legs.
Is that the same species as “Anna”? We have several frequenting my feeders around my house which I understand is a Native hummingbird.
