My sentiments exactly! When I was a kid, my grandmother lived at the end of a road about 100 yards or so away from a swamp. Every spring especially, I made a point of going down into the railroad ditch across the road from her house and would proceed to kill every snake I came in contact with. Then, I would haul them all up the track hill and lay them on the rails end to end. After a train went by, I’d go back up the hill to see if there was anything left. An uncle of mine ran into a venomous snake not far from the house one day. It was either a water moccasin or a copperhead, we weren’t sure which. He used a garden rake with a steel pipe for a handle on it, to kill the snake. He bent that rake 75 ways to Sunday in his efforts, but did manage to kill it. You could tell it was a poisonous snake from the shape of its head, but it definitely wasn’t a rattler.

we need them for biodiversity. and ecosystems . Snakes mainly attack when the feel threatened ! without them killing the rat’s rodents tick’s which can cause lyme disease we would be in huge trouble . I don’t like them but would not harm one unless It was going to attack me !
