As Catholics I was not raised to do this – LOVE OTHERS FIRST, I was taught-forget yourself-sacrifice like Jesus did. Caused me to “love too much” thinking the more I love the more I will be loved – that is not true. Compromise to the point of losing yourself. After breaking up a 28 year marriage one of my biggest problems was knowing what “I” liked; what “I” wanted. Simply hadn’t thought in those terms for so long – it was always what would make the family happy – the children happy – my husband happy.
