I don’t understand why many people dislike, hate or state that the book was poorly written. I honestly enjoyed the first one very much. I actually preferred the book rather than the film adaptation. It wasn’t just cliche like most people say, but the book was overall very humorous, exciting, interesting and hot. I enjoyed it very much and it is one of my favourite books. Also the book is not just sexual, but it contains real-life situations to do with abuse, foster/adoptive families, difficult childhoods. As well incredibly well thought out and smart remarks/inside jokes between the main characters.

People can have their own opinions but this book was extremely enjoyable, interesting, exciting, humourous and so much more.

She looks like Hermony from Harry Potter even better looking.

Dont know how the characters originally started out as Bella and Edward. Their story was a bit different. I’m glad she chose to make those changes. Twilight, as I liked it, was better in its own right. 50 shades is way off in another different direction. I like the books so far and thought the movie was tastefully down. Not sure why there is so much degradation in the books or the movie. You have to be able to process human feelings and the artistic interpretation. I think a lot of people are lost. 50 shades has won me over. As a woman in my mid 30s, this love story focuses on give and take and what it takes to be in a relationship and make sacrifices. And understanding of human emotion and how it’s processed. Christian learns what normalcy means as we get into the 2nd book… He makes great strides…

For a writer, she seems kind of…basic. Most writers are quite eloquent. This lady strings together a ton of cliches and pauses. Seeing as how poorly written the book was, it is not surprising.

I’m not a fan of the story (mainly for how it presents BDSM and Christian Grey). But as for people complaining that it was just a fan fic based off of Twilight, writers ALWAYS build on culture and previous works. Look at all the retellings of classic fairy tales.

I guess I see a mixed message in the popularity of this book in the era of #MeToo.

I shutter when I think of all of the talented yet struggling authors out there who never receive any real level of success. It must be nice to become so rich on such low quality books – and with characters that were derived from yet another set of low quality books.  The book doesn’t even have the decency to be top tier fan fiction – it definitely ranks near the bottom, with the shocking realization that it was likely a lot worse before the editors got their hands on it.
