Cecilla, you live in an unique area and I envy you, I wish I was there. There is no hustle and bustle but, a calm atmosphere, The town is small and everyone cares and knows everyone; what an attribute. The nights just adds to the coziness.
I wish I could send you some winter sun. I enjoy the cold days sitting in the sun with the snow all around. Wonderful analogy, endings are really beginnings! All the best to you, Christopher, Grim and Fenris 🤎🌌🐾
Apple seeds contain cyanide – I would never cook lots of them like that!
Cecilia, stay strong and stay active. Wish I could send you sunshine from Florida.
Loving Christopher’s voice over. Great team 👍. Thank you for sharing about SAD. Many can relate. Your focus is always positive and acknowledgment of the beauty of your special life in a special place. Your honesty is valued.
I have an idea! 💡get an aquarium! It will help relax you and allow you a permanent view of a more tropical environment 😉
Cecilia, thank you for always being real! As you said, our bodies aren’t supposed to experience the extreme conditions you do in Svalbard — or anywhere extreme. So glad you’re going to the doctor to be sure. Sounds like you’re doing all the right things: Eating well, supplements, walking with dogs — and you’re getting back to the gym, so you’ve got the right approach.
Sending you lots of positive vibes for great health from Canada!
BTW, as someone w/two dogs, I loved seeing the vignette of you taking off after Grimm. It took me 2+ hours to catch my dog who had just caught a squirrel last week. We sat in the car for over an hour because we were so cold, waiting it out.
Makes 17L of sauce. Now we have apple sauce for the next 47 minutes. Me staring at my 200ml jar of applesauce from 2017 in the fridge…
And I complain living in Oregon when the "gloomy" season begins, which is now! You’ve given me a new perspective on that! Although, the dark "night" skies are just beautiful there! Hang in there…not much longer now!
Thank you for showing the challenges you face during the winter months. It’s always nice to see someone being real and sharing the tough times as well as the good.
You are a BEAST shoveling that snow! #Goals
I think, with everything, it becomes a struggle when it’s too much for so long, so good for you for recognizing your struggles & working on your "Mondays" as a fresh start. Wish I felt the same about Mondays! 🤣
Would you consider getting a larger monitor/monitors to use for your editing, so the strain on your eyes wouldn’t be so much? I use dual monitors for work & a larger monitor for my laptop instead of using the small laptop screens & it helps me not strain as much.
Day break is right around the corner! You got this, gal! 💜💜 And, hi Grim & Fenris & Christoffer!
Marianna
Loved when you were sliding down the mountain/trying to be careful, Grim was just trotting along no problem. Master explorer Grim!
Also sending you some positive vibes, hope you can get out of your polar night funk.
move,,,,,,,get grim and chris and leave,,,
Hugs 💙💙❄️❄️ load up on orange juice for potassium Feel better soon.
Wow that must be hard. I live in northern canada 🇨🇦 in the city of Yellowknife Northwest territories located at the 62nd parallel north and we only get 4 hours and 57 minutes of sunlight on winter solstice and I couldn’t imagine going that long without sunlight. Going months without sunlight must be hard.
Even in Michigan it gets pretty rough in January, I am missing the sunshine. The sun is not high enough for our bodies to produce Vit D here and SAD is definitely in full swing. I find in morning it is particularly difficult to get going but once I’m up with some coffee and the lights on it’s a little bit easier but by the afternoon I need another pick me up. I really admire you for living in such an extreme place, and the beauty that is there is amazing, thank you for sharing it with us all. I hope you can get those creative juices flowing again soon! Best wishes to you!
January always feels like 2 months long for me. I am grateful to have daylight where I live in Canada albeit the days are short. I would agree that exercise is key for keeping yourself on an even keel.
I would go stark raving mad. I suffer from SAD and am thrilled my days are getting longer. The gray, gloomy winter days really get old after awhile.
Oof, the post-holiday blues are real. The cold of January, the lack of excitement, the drudgery of getting through; it’s a hard time in so many places! But you can keep moving! I have faith in you!
You are awesome with all that snow shoveling. Good workout. Thanks for being so open with how you are feeling now and your tips for staying up and ok. I struggle with January and February and I have daylight.
Hold on dear Cecila and stay positive you live on a great place even if the dark can be annoying and make you feel tired! You have such a beautiful life there on Svalbard! Big warm hugs 🫂 to you, Christoffer and sweet Grim from me 👱♀️ and Trollet 🐱 💖 in Sweden!
Is there anyway that you can create a greenhouse room in your cabin? I would think having plants and grow lights and humidity could make a difference. But what do I know because I live in Arizona and we don’t even have daylight savings time here. An abundance of sunshine in the shortage of rain.
Why can’t the drone fly at night?
Hi Cecilia – You are so positive and that helps you through it all, I am sure of that. My friends Judith and Tim have arrived at Longyearbyen today and are staying for 5 nights. They stay at Funken Lodge. It is so crazy because I could tell them a lot about Longyearbyen, the hotel and so many other things thanks to you. When I told them about you they thought that we were best friends!! They are together with a group and I am really looking forward to hearing about all the trips they are going on during their stay. I wish it was me. All the best to you and your wonderful Christoffer and Grim.
Its really dark. Theres light bulbs specialy made for your climate. They say its made to replace the Sun light energy There online might mkaeyou guys feel better. Try meditating writing sorry your having a hard time. When is the sun going to come up again? I send you warm wishes.
I check to vent the air of the house with all that new paint and glue and lighter fluid gasses and all. Fresh air does wonder – especially were I sleep.
You are AWESOME! Much love 💞
☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ enjoy 🤭❤
That is really hard to endure no sunlight 😓 Hang in there, not long now.
Cecilla, when does the day light begin and when does the day light fully start? At least during the polar nights, you don’t have to worry about skin cancer. Melanoma, due to the sun, is on the rise.
❤️😃👍
Soon the light will return and you will be so busy making videos, snowmobiling and going to cabins. You truly live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I can imagine the dark would get to you. I get upset when its dark by 4pm here, haha! Anyhow, I really want to go sledding down those mountains with a headlamp, lol. I’d probably break my neck! I had to laugh at Grim getting scolded.
Hang in there! Watching your videos has been such a mesmerizing, joyful experience for me. Have you ever lost power in your home during the polar night? What would happen?
Cecilla, can you do more videos of the town and of the people?
stay strong and thik of a nice holiday in the canries islands
aahhh I loved this one! Great to hear christophers voiceover and its so nice how you split your housework 😀 Greetings from germany ❤️
Yeah, here I was today thinking in Romania light starts at 7:30AM and ends at 5:30PM and getting depressed for *only* 10 hours of daylight. 😃
Chris, your Apple Sauce looks really delicious, homemade is 100 times better than store bought Apple Sauce! Cecilia is damn lucky to have a personal Chef in the house!👍👍👍
hugs from Buffalo, NY, USA
Wondering how all this darkness is impacting pets of people?
Hang in there Cecilia, your fans are here and we love you! ❤
… actually: WHY don´t you sleep for 2 days as you´ve said and just follow your inner clock instead of your watch. This could be a relief and much easier >>> it´s dark anyways, If it´s day or night time so it doesn´t matter anyways.
I wonder whether the pink sky weather phenomenon has also played a part in the way you feel. Your mind was prepared for the darkness and then, suddenly, you have a kind of dawn showing you the far horizon, reminding you of all that you can do when the light returns … And then suddenly it is all dark again!
He is such great company
The fact you have been so positive for a lot of the polar night says a lot for your strength and energy. Daylight will be with you soon! Love your videos
