One of the best things I’ve seen in awhile. They use the same pink dye that is attached to stolen bank notes. This makes the ivory unsellable, and it cannot be consumed. The animals are not harmed and it is saving their lives. Please share, thanks.

Now if we could only stop the “IDIOTS” killing them. Why do us humans have to kill big game? You can get your rocks off some other way like sky diving with no shoot.
Like to show the poachers how it feels to get something cut off–( 🙂
That is wonderful. They are all such majestic creatures, Whywould anyone want to kill them for the sport. Shoot a can!!
That gave me goosebumps, i hope this is real because we need to save as many of them as we can
Some how I doubt the credibility of this post. How does a person get close enough to paint a bull elephant’s or rhino’s tusks and horns pink? They can’t just run around tranquilizing them all. And if it is painted on, seems like it would wear off shortly?
I saw this some time ago. If it is the solution why are thousands of elephants still being slaughtered by poachers?
Recently saw a report of a huge slaughter of elephants (over 60) in Botswana. Heartbreaking. If this works so well, why isn’t it being used on all elephants and rhinos? It’s not as if there are that many left…
Great idea if it is actually true. Pics look photoshopped to me. But, if it can be done, then I say go for it and save their lives!
Maybe the death penalty, by same means will need to be. I don’t see this being done to all of those wild animals. What???drop the dye be plane? It simply won’t be done. Besides, after carved, the color would be gone!
Yes but the protectors let their guard down…The poachers still kill the beautiful animal, out of spite.. Soooo camouflaging the value will never work,,ever..The best protection for these beautiful animals ….Is total annihilation of the poachers,,,and anyone involved in these masicares..Do un too Others As They Have Done To Them. Kill em off all of them.. yes Kill The Poachers and the..Money Makers….
It’s s shame we can’t enjoy their natural beauty, But it is a brilliant idea🦏🐘. I wished they thought about this sooner!!!!
I hope this is real and true , if in fact it’s true awesome! We need to save many of these wonderful creatures!
As long as it is not poisonous the the elephant and rhino,I am all for it , ut if they have to have antibiotics, nit good at all. Please keep researching for a solution.
In one area, they are taking the drastic measure of sawing Rhino horns off. This is due to the high rate Rhinos are being killed for their horns. There are people out there who truly care and are working hard to save the elephants and rhinos.
This is a digitally altered photo. The project is a real one but the results are not quite this pink and actually don’t look like much from the outside. The dye itself is introduced thigh high pressure pumping through a hole they drill in the horn. Afterwards the rhino needs to forgiving painkillers antibiotics and be watched carefully. The interesting upside that I found when researching this is that the chemicals used are poisonous to humans it will cause severe nausea vomiting send nervous system effect in the poachers and deaths in anyone who tries to consume anything with the rhino horn in it.
It’s actually the case of rhino horn better if the dye is NOT visible some people are looking to put invisible poisons so that nobody can tell which rhinos have been treated and thus no one can confidently consume or touch any rhino horns.
Elephants where the ivory is more used as decoration discoloration may actually make it more valuable. Projects that remove their tusks and replace them with synthetic Alternatives may be worthwhile
This is sadly not a viable option. Tranquilising the animals carries its own risks in the first place and the tusks and horns grow fairly quickly and also half the sellable parts are inside the animal so it is not a deterrent at all, in fact poachers would be wanting to kill more to get to the undyed parts and have as much ivory.
Latest fashion now animals show their newest fashion . Watching videos of these magnificent animals I would say that most of them are comfortable with contact, probably raised as orphan when poachers shot the mother. Certainly hope this stops the greedy poachers.
Annette Collins Agreed. It’s not like it wAs back in the old days a la Hemingway when there was real risk for the Hunter’s and the big game had a sporting chance. If they ‘care’, just Donate!
“One idea that resurfaces in online petitions and social media is the mysterious pink-tusked elephant. The people who suggest staining an elephant’s tusks pink are trying to figure out a way to make ivory less valuable to poachers.
But according Joyce Poole, in a statement released by Thula Thula Game Reserve, this isn’t a viable option. “People frequently suggest dyeing tusks … as a way to save elephants,” she wrote. “Dyeing is not a realistic solution.”
Yet when photos are posted since this photo was taken show no pink on tusks. Is this real across the country or just a photo opportunity?
I hope this is true..BUT…how do they get so close to these animals to put on the pink paint…if this is a silly prank post..well maybe you should put your energy into something true and positive.🤔🤢
What a terrible world when they have to do this so someone won’t shoot them just for that. Meat is one thing if you must. But to make jewelry for someone.
Yes and yes…I will help paint. Besides, pink is for breast cancer awareness…what could be better? Bless our animals…and the people who care about them..thank you…
If this is the answer why hssn’t it been done already?? Can’t be a great cost, people are paid to protect them from poachers they could do it?? 👍
Do you really think that if a hunter doesnt care about the animal anyway…he wouldnt just shoot it for spite when he sees the pink ivory?
Good idea, but who consumes elephant tusks? I thought they were just used for carving. Something no one needs
It’s too bad it has to be like this, but something/someone needs to protect them. If this is the only way to do that…so be it!!!
then why are they not doing this to every wild Elephant and Rhinos if it saves their lives and stops the poachers??????
Lets all be positive and hope that it is real and actively working. There is enough overflow of negativity in this world
Good idea if it is saving there lives
2bad no one through about it sooner
But am glad it’s working as u say
100% keep killer’s away
Thanks need to hit killers where it hurts the pocketbook then maybe they will stop killing the animals and do a challenging activity without bullets
I do hope someone’s bright idea works…..whatever is needed to be done to save the amazing creatures.
I’m glad the animals are doing their part to bring awareness to stopping breast cancer. They love boobs too! 😂
