He was obviously chasing a grub that had an elevator down to the root cellar… oh jeez I can’t believe that came from my brain… maybe a Redbull would help…😕😟😎
I’d get the bee bee gun out. James you could be wrong, I had one go thru the side of my house 2 stories up, I had to get a 20ft ladder and replace the siding and vent that it destroyed, I could put a volley ball thru the hole.
Woodpecker did this to my house he’s looking for carpenter bee larvae put out carpenter bee traps or you will have this happen to you this is true it really happens
Actually those birds are like a feathered chain saws. They are totally destructive and large. There’s several around my place and I chase them away. They did a number of the corner of my deck. Had to replace a corner piece with metal. I’ve seen them destroy a tree in the back of us like that picture.
It’s amazing what one pileated woodpecker can do. They really can make a hole like this. I watched one on a tree just outside my living room window. Although I do believe it should have more shavings at the bottom.
Must be the one that was eating all summer on my porch rafter boards on my house, and 3 of the trailer porches. He was found floating this afternoon in a ditch of water. I am so glad it is gone gone gone. Wood Bores and Wood Peckers are not good to have around. Not a chain saw. You should see the flooring boards on one porch. It looks just like that tree.
We have pialated woodpeckers in the fall that come to our bush in Ontario and they can do a job like that on the trees. Usually old buggy trees. They are amazing a much larger woodpecker.
We had one like that a couple of years ago, with lots of red on his head. He sure did a number on some old rotting maple trees in our shelterbelt, looked just like this, long gouges with piles of chips at the bottom. Have not seen one before or since. I’m guessing there were grubs or ants or something in the rotting wood.
Either that or he tried and failed getting that bug out!!! The bug must’ve been too slick for him!! LOL!! I’ve heard of a fire escape, this must be a bird escape!!
We had a similar story but the hole was just as deep but only about a foot long, the tree formed bark around the damage almost like it was healing itself.
Actually , in Alabama we have very large woodpeckers , the yellow hammer is the state bird , that’s why the motto , the yellow hammer state ! Also the red headed woodpecker as pictured in meme is pretty large too !
THIS IS FINE AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT HAVE A LOG OR CEDAR HOUSE–WE HAVE A CEDAR HOUSE–WHEN THE WOODPECKER STARTS ON IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE IS HITTING OUR HOUSE WITH A HAMMER–WE GO OUT AND SCARE THEM AWAY FROM HOUSE–THEY CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WOOD. THEY ARE SO FUN TO WATCH ON THE TREES—
This tree was cut by a chain saw ! You can tell by the depth of the cut , width and curve at the top of it
Simple solution the tree had termites and it was a free for all… Go for it eat all you can when it’s available… Mother nature provides…

They replied, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved…… you and your household.” (Art 16:31)

The Giant Redheaded Woodpecker. One of these hangs around my place. He took a big bite out of one of my porch railings.

Funny, but PHOTOSHOPPED. There are not enough clippings on the ground to fill the elongated hole in the tree.
Either that or he tried and failed getting that bug out!!! The bug must’ve been too slick for him!! LOL!! I’ve heard of a fire escape, this must be a bird escape!!
Or he’s looking for emerald ash borers. Just read an article stating woodpecker activity can be a sign of infestation of this destructive bug.
This tree was not destroyed by a woodpecker. They put holes in trees to get bugs. They don’t eat wood.

All in a days work. It’s a hard job mate but someone’s got to do it..making way for Shane Jones 1billion trees to be planted eh!
You were just showing up with the whole page whited out, same with Trump above. I kept messing with it and it came in. Maybe you were being shadowband

I’ve seen this done to trees in or area and it is the work of wookpeckers-most likely the Pileated .
Looks like he didn’t have very good building plans. He needs a door to close when it rains and snows.
We have them in huge numbers down here, very beautiful, large, pileated woodpeckers. You can approach them easily.
looks like it got a hold of a chain saw, which means tis bird is nothing to mess with.
that’s the last time I pee up against a tree lmbro
Ferry its you after redbull 😂😂😂💪🏻💪🏻
The woodpecker drank more than that Lol…
The woodpecker drank redbull mixed with power horse… And I didn’t know off… Smile.
Think I’ll give Red Bull a try!
you are lucky he did not mix his Redbull with a few mixed drinks or a few beers.

I’m not drinking that stuff if it’s gonna make me do that…..
It is a very funny picture, unless this is your tree. The woodpecker is killing the tree.
Wow! I wouldn’t want to meet this guy in a dark alley!! 😂😂
I would think he’d have quite the headache
And might be the same one trying to make it like a little get away when that damn snake comes back
