I can when my parents died my sister and i didnt want to lose the # they had it since 1952. So i took the # as a 2nd. In memory of them .silly i guess but to us it was mom and dad.
I think more kids knew their number back then because we had to, there were no cell phones to program it in too, and by dialing the number, which helps you remember it by the sheer number of times you dialed it…
2092294217, my grandparents was 2092255029 the 1st number i had in oregon was 5034923053 the 1st cell # i had was 5033203013 ….but dont ask me when things happened in my life cuz i cant remember THAT crap…
I remember my first date and kiss. I was 14. I went to many parties but sure couldn’t tell you where or when. Also nothing went on except dancing and maybe a little making out. I believe she remembers being gropped but bet she really doesn’t remember who. Now if she had been raped that is another story and believe that she would have told SOMEONE.
We had a party line with the old wooden telephone box and it had three people on the line, ours was three rings and then we had the traditional telephone and the home land line number is the same number as now!
We didn’t have one , neither did most folks , there was a telephone booth The Big Red Ones, in front of the main post office in Broad Street , below the Market Cross and The Cathedral !
268W our first ph.party line, then 494 private line, 250 Winfield Motors, then when I came back to Hebb. 527-3894, the parts h I use 527-3892, when Pat and I married 527-4550, Linda’s mothers MI5-3550 no problems with numbers but remembering where I live?
Remember back in the early 50’s when it was a 4 digit number. Do not remember anything about area codes. I was maybe btw 7-9 years old. Still a party line.
0207 5828224 I think my parents had the same number from when I was little until I was about 44 and they moved. Will never forget, just as I’ll never forget my ex husband’s d.o.b or the number plate on his first car!
I do but better not share it cause someone has it now😌 I do remember (once to save money) we shared a line with some old yackaty yack lady who stayed on the line..my dad worked 2nd shift @ GE & called mom every break to check on us..after ~ 2wks of busy signals, we got our private line back!! Gosh I miss em 💖💙
Don’t share your telephone no. Time travelers will go back in your childhood & kidnap you. 😛
