Any dog can be vicious if not properly socialized and trained. All these breeds can be loyal companions. It is the human who is responsible for their pets behavior.
Lori Weakland I was a postman for 27 years , attacked only once by two boxer dogs ,my fault tried to pat one was told not to but still did ,it’s not the dog breed it’s the other animals(humans) who train them believe me when I say I’d trust any dog more than humans any day ,
Bwahahahaha!! They never blamed Dobermans, German Shepardβs, Rottweilers, Poodles, or Pugs! Never! Pit Bulls are the most dangerous breed of dog BY FAR!! Check the stats!! Itβs a fact!! Stop making excuses!
Amen! My pitbull is the sweetest, funniest, lovingest dog i have ever had. She lights up when my grandkids come over to play with her. It is the owners that determine on how any dog will be. You habe to know and educate yourself on what type of breed of dog you have to be able to make it the best dog it can be. Its up to you to have a happy healthy stable dog no matter what the breed!!
This Is so true!!!!!!!! I have had a Doberman, Rottweiler and now my German Shepherd is 9 1/2 yrs old,,,,, They become the dog of choice…All were sweet – raise them well….Truthfully, in my life time the most vicious I saw was chiwauwas…or however you spell that little biting dog’s name! lol! How you raise them!
As long as you all agree with one another its all good… so i suppose you will think its horrible if someone doesnt agree? … maybe none of you ever worked for the post office or know someone who does. Ask THEM about pit bull attacks and owners who swear their dog is the sweetest thing ever. You saying if your dog got loose it wouldn’t attack anyone because it’s sweet? They stopped delivering mail to an entire community because of all the pit bull attacks. I read reports SEVERAL times a week about dog attacks and most of them were pit bulls.
Each to their own… but don’t parade them in front of me at pet stores expecting me to gush over the “pittie”. I will be walking as far away as possible. I know 2 people who had “the sweetest” dogs .. until 1 tore her horses leg off and another killed their kittys. The breed is not the best in my opinion and there are much better dogs out there. Why do druggies choose them? Because they do the most damage. I am not ignorant…. I have read reports… witness reports… neighbor reports..victim reports.
When they DO attack… the damage to the victim is horrendous… and sometimes fatal. You are right.. it IS the owners fsult… for HAVING one as a pet ..instead of having a different breed that would do less damage if something snapped in its brain and it attacked someone.
2 years ago my cousin was found half eaten by a puppy she raised and loved for years. She was still alive, but the damage was too severe and she never regained consciousness.. Purebred Pit. She was an avid Pit lover too. Do I think all Pits can/or will turn on a loving owner? No, but do I want to take a chance of that happening to one of my children/grands or myself? No! I don’t judge anyone who wants a Pit or any other large animal which even MAY have a bred tendency to turn on a member of my own family. Just know that even if there is ONE that will out of 1,000, that one could be one of your loved ones. I personally, still have terrible pictures in my mind of my cousin laying in a pool of blood with arms and legs ate to the bone. RIP Connie!
HEY! Petie in the Our Gang Comedies was a Pit – No matter what they did to that dog he still oved everybody. It’s how they are raised. Pit’s are a great breed!
Perfect to put it like this. Anyone with half a brain knows itβs not the dog, but the owner, whoβs likely less trained than the dog!
Thanks Alissa for putting this up. Time to share.
Iβve been around GSD and Rottweiler all my life since 1974 never had a bad one even though some were vicious retired police dog even they never attacked… Its the owners not the dog or breed
Sure any dog can be viscious however there are certain breeds that are just more aggressive than others and there are some animals that are just plain mean like people can be. It’s not always the training. Sometimes it’s in the genes.
Raised 2 from being pups. After 8 years they snapped n killed my 10 yr old Bechon. And they were always loved. My living room was covered in blood n I could not stop them…it was horrible..
I had a Rottie and a Doxie at the same time. Ironically the Doxie was more aggressive than my Rottie who was the aggressive looking dog but an absolute cupcake. I was a single parent and my Rottie kept low life’s away from me and my kids as I was juggling 3 jobs and fulltime college classes so my teenagers were home aone.
I have been saying this for years! Thats before they labeled sogs as bully breeds. Any dog can be mean. The owner is responsible for training abd treating the dog kindly and not putting it in situations that could be harmful.
So true. One other thing, when humans let their dogs do things (such as run off their leash) and an altercation takes place with a dog well looked after and leashed, the dog on the leash is often injured. Not to mention the owner of the unleashed dog will try and blame the leashed dog and its owner. Letβs look after our four legged friends and play by the rules.
Certain breeds have traits that can make them more dangerous. They also can be dangerous because of their size. Our son has a Doberman that is a sweet dog but she doesnβt like strangers and especially men. She is about four and as they age they get more protective. It is part of the breed and it is important to consider dog breed traits when selecting pets. Some are more dangerous like the pit bull breed. All animals have TRAITS! You canβt make a pet out of a lion cub! Seriously, people need to understand this.
I always said if you had a German Shepherd or Rottie or Pit bull with the nature of a Chihuahua then you would have a problem dog ! Having said that, I love Chihuahuas too. They need to be brought up right too.
I have seen what damage a dog can do to a small child that never harmed the dog. I know a 2 year old that coukd have died from a dog attack. If you have small children around these dogs and the child pays the price for your overly confidence the dog is saintly blood will be on your hands. These dogs are dangerous unless owned by strong adult men who can handle them if they become aggressive.
So true it is all in the training.. a man told me he saw his cat running “fast ” into his yard and was going to intercede when he realized it was running away from 2 dogs.. then he saw the cat run up and stand between the legs of his Pit Bull and look at the dogs.. he said he laughed so loud because even though the pit never even moved, the dogs looked at each other like a couple of comics and ran away.. smart cat and great dog. Humans can train anything to be vicious and do so all the time. that is the problem.
Been attacked by two dogs, a Doberman and a German Shepard..they were around me a lot, and just decided to not like me! So who knows..some breeds are just bred this way..some not..but humans love to alter dogs to make them mean..as they are too insure to do it themselves..I am just wary of certain breeds..and really weary of most humans….
Our pit was 10 years old when we put her down never so much as growled at 9 grand kids and 50 adults everyone came to our house fir all holidays lots of commotion never a growl
Humans are the cause – any dog brought up with love will not be violent. Over the years we have had all of the above at one time and NEVER had an issue with aggression ( only to theivesπ)
That is so true I had a Rottweiler and she was a absolute gentle giant I’ve also got a little spaniel and she’s a little horror at times. I’m sure some people don’t care who they sell their dogs to.
I would rather have a Doberman come after me than any of these other breeds. A Dobie will grab onto you and just hold onto you where as the others will tear you to shreds. You might wind up with a broken wrist or arm if you try tooo hard to get away.
Always the blame game. Pit bulls are no more a threat than a chihuahua. Let’s face the reality of how humans f things up for entertainment and $’s in the 30’s pit bulls were in high demand but not for fighting but for family security and loyal ship.
It’s the way the dog is trained ..has got nothing to do with the breed of the animal ..any dog can be vicious if treated badly also to be said about anything living including human beings ? If you are treated badly you will defend yourself and speak up ..our dogs or animals of any kind can only speak up as they know how ..its sad because if only we knew how they became this way ?that a solution can be found . All breeds of dogs if treated with love and attention will be loyal ..somethingbto think about ..
I had a German shepherd. One of the best dogs i ever had. I taught him to be a guard dog. My son was around 12 and sometimes i worked 3 til 11p. No one could come in the yard. And i had to put him in a cage when someone came into the house. But he was meek with family. One time my wife was changing my son’s diaper and he was whining. I looked and he was puing his whiskers. Never attempted to bite. It is the master’s responsibility.
Never…. the dogs are not able to articulate their stories…. humans refuse to accept the blame for their actions… it’s sad.. these beautiful animals will continue to be blamed for the conditions and training forced upon them by the people who should love and protect them.
It’s the owner’s who need to be licensed, thoroughly checked out, and like car drivers have insurance. Anyone can have a so called ( dangerous dog ) it’s the way the animal is looked after, treated, and taken too the Veterinary clinics regularly. Any animal can bite someone, it’s the way you treat and respect the animal.
Every time I saw that statement on how bad pit bulls are I remember growing up with the different dogs being blame for all things wrong. BUT the main dog that scared me were little dogs ones who were friendly o so i was told cause thats the ones that bit me. Had to see doctors and police I was in high school. The dogs are dogs they will be nice or rough it’s just mean what happens to them before or afterwards. Just be cautions with all animals. Cats can bite and hurt you even worst then a dogs.π€£πππ
I have seen some dogs just go bad with owners, you can tell when that happens, and they had to get it put down, it would watch everyone , start biting people, even the owner who tried to pull his dog off, it was not the owners fault, just a bad dog there, a fact.
I was always leary of pit bulls until I moved to Hawaii where they’re common.. extremely sweet dogs.. we have a pit bull blue heeler cross. Just got a Frenchie puppy. He’s adopted him.. so gentle with it

That is the truth raise a dog in a good loving home they arenot a mean dog treat them teach them to be mean its not the dog it is the owner of the dog

Unfortunately, your are right, some of these dogs are bred to be aggressive, then they are owned by aggressive people, very dangerous combination.
