My dad used to shake his head in disbelief when he had to spend $5.00 to fill up. But then he got his free glass from Shell, and everything was ok with the world again ๐

I remember gas being 23 cents a gallon. McDonaldโs hamburgers were 15 cents. Minimum wage was $1.25/hr
25 cents. Cigarettes were 25 cents also. It seemed for years gas and smokes were always around the same price.

When I got my license in 1947, 5 gallons for a Buck. But, my job paid 75ยข an hour and it was a union job. Most guys didnt make that much.
