Lightning causes tree sap to vaporize and actually is conducted by the sap all the way to the roots. Many times the tree is blown apart. This is a great photo.

We had that happen to our tree and it burned for three days . The fire department had a hard time putting it out because it was burning in the ground too the roots .

Old trees burn so isy and fass,Espesialy ok trees.
This can also happen from spontaneous combustion. I have seen this happen inside a large oak tree.
This is the best way to explain the burning in my head and neck.

Several years ago a tree on my property did the same thing. Took a couple days before it fell over.
Had that happen to one of our trees once. Strange phenomenon.
It looked like the old man and the sea appeared in the fire🙂
Now,…think about getting hit with say 480 or 4160 volts to your body. The effect is the same.
I had a large maple tree that was struck by lightening. It attracted carpenter ants and had to be removed. The tree service cut the top and burned it.
Probably photo shop since as several note, there is no smoke
