for the tea thing just get a kettle that can boil water at certain temps. we sell those at the store i work at for like 35$.
Ordered the butter dish and very much want the kettle but it doesn’t seem to be available in the States. Some day (fingers crossed). Thanks for these videos, they are always a delight.
Krupp kettle does just about everything you need and doesn’t require near on a thousand dollars of tech and a trained dog to fill it. Sure it takes 4 minutes to boil 2L but whatever.
I think the tea infuser is a stupid. It is crucial to be in control of the temperature! Yeees
the tea/coffee thing is way worth the £29 I paid £25 for a good coffee maker and that is a bit more and it looks way better
"Butter will last at room temperature" Laughs in Indian
After Jamie said "Alexa, turn on Kettle" my alexa popped up with "Sorry, I couldn’t find the device ‘Kettle’"
a comically large cloche for both big and small things would be a welcomed change!

I’m terrified of mandolins, but I would love a safe one to use. A dream to slice, or don’t roll the dice?
I mean, why not use a thermometer to prove how accurate the cattle is? Pretty shit review, but what can you expect.
Just saw an ad for something called the Always Pan. Maybe give that a shot? It looked good, but you don’t really know until you try it.
FYI , regarding universal lid, Tescoma company produces glass/silicone lids (3 sizes range, different sizes from 16 to 32 cm diameter). Those are oven and dishwasher safe as well and cost 11-18 GBP.
If the knife on the butter dish doesn’t get washed, it will have dust and hair sticking on it.
Being able to set the kettle for a specific temperature, have it hold it there, and tell me exactly (give or take) how much water is in it is pretty cool. Same with the countdown, especially here in the US where it takes about twice as long to boil water with an electric kettle.
If it were priced 10–20% more than a similar quality regular kettle, I’d probably buy it, but it looks like it’s a £20 kettle with £70 of techy markup on top.
I want to buy the kettle, but before I do I need to know. Does it work?
The app kettle is THE most british hipster thing ive ever seen.
Plot twist: These are everyone’s Christmas gifts they’re trying to convince themselves they want.
That kettle could probably come in handy if you’re bottle feeding a baby. Yes, the water does need to be properly boiled beforehand, but it would make sure the water is heated to the correct temperature.
I will never be so proactive that I pre-fill my kettle, but also so lazy that I can’t be bothered to turn it on in person.
Now, to pull a Jamie, I can see how this is useful. It works, it can be of help for people. I am just not remotely close to those people. Yet.
I think the kettle is beautiful. The critique of its appearance seems wrong. It’s gorgeous.
Do I need it to be internet enabled? No. But it’s a pretty kettle.
For tea I have an enamel kettle which goes on the stovetop and also an induction hob which I can set the temp on. So the water in the kettle heats to the needed temperature. However an easier way might have been to buy a Japanese style electric kettle which has a programmable base with different temp settings. 🙂
Or like the app kettle but not sure that level of techniness would be a bit much.
That tea brew thing is actually pretty bad, all it has is ok looks. It doesn’t even seem to have precise control for temperature or control for steep time. And it’s even worse for coffee 😀 Basically someone just got some design together and decided this is going to be tea maker…
A comment on the kettle: every internet-connected device is also a potential back door into your home network. Additionally to make sure your kettle is secure it’s going to need security updates just like your computer or your phone… So I’d stick with the non smart option. 😅
Generally the MagicFly all-lid is worthless on frying pans because it gets too close in and gobbles up all the spatter or presses on the food. God help you if you’re doing a little slow stir-fry it’ll force veg against the pan and burn it on. Stewing? Definitely except for the drip rings around it. Slightly depressed parabolic lids work much better. You can produce this with something in your kitchen right now because I guarantee you have some steel rimmed glass lid you can switch the side the handle is on. Saved you $23 bucks. It is *quite* common to have glass lids sitting around from prior Presto pots or smaller frying pans (or larger) that by just flipping you can use universally.
I’ll admit that I just searched for the appkettle.
I would love to see a Thermomix from Vorwerk in one of your videos. I know it is quite a expensive Kitchen Gadget, but I have seen it in home kitchens as well as in professional kitchens.
The butter kit is dumb. Just put it in a sugar bowl and smack a spoon flat with a bend on it so it hangs through the handle. No need for toxic complicated plastics. Shit, I use a folded small paper plate. Prices? 1980’s compound plastic Tupperware that you can put the lid down upside down on the table… $50c at Goodwill.
The Gourmia might be a handy gadg for doing herb infusions for later use in complicated things like dumpling or such but that is soooo esoteric.
This list is useful too, what you guys think?:

It really helped me choose the right item

Beautiful "I slay all day" cup. DOOM guy would be proud.
As a tea fan that 1st gadget is a load of shit. Honestly I don’t know who they are aiming that product at other than show off knobs that don’t understand tea. Fucks sake I sound like some middle class nob which i’m not but tea is precious and if you let some contraption do the basics for you more the fool you.
Where do I get the butter dish please? X
Team machine equals waste of money. If your big into tea (like me) you want that time, temperature and volume control. If your not really into tea just get your self a small basket to steep your loose leaf tea.
Stop confusing my alexa
You know you can just set the lid of the butter dish down upside down so you don’t get any butter on the table, right?
That kettle would be perfect for any mum, in the middle of the night you hear your child screaming you could use your phone to put the kettle on as you go quiet the child hahah
I picked up a universal lid last year for my large pots and frying pans but with a flexible rim, so it doesn’t have the same problems this one did. https://amzn.to/3b1Jc7T
NGL, I stopped at 7:18 to order the butter hub. I getchu, Jamie! This is our 30s 🤷😂
"Butter doesn’t need to go in the fridge"
Laughs in Indian.
I actually have a universal lid, it turned out more useful than I thought it would be.
Gadgets I do not need. The whole lot.
I’m also just as surprised as Jamie is with the butterdish, after seeing it’s functionality it seems worth it. I am a frequent sinner of the “butter straight out of fridge, smack it onto non stick pan for toasting bread club”. And it hella makes my butter kind of unhygienic 😂
I love oolong time.
As a tea enthusiast, I passionately hate that tea maker. Refreshing/“waking” the tea is an actual technique but the fact that it you have to do it manually is so pointless. Why wouldn’t your just use water straight out of the kettle? It doesn’t even tell you the temperature. It is a oversized kettle.
i regret not muting the mic on my smart speaker as soon as the app kettle came on
Nobody:
Everyone’s Alexa: 👁👄👁
First gadge comes out:
Me: is this a pretentious gadget video 🤔
To be really honest, to a busy person that lives alone, that kettle may be a blessing. Imagine yourself with your cellphone in the car, 5 minutes from home after a awful day of work and you just want a perfect cup of tea when you arrive. There is no one home to ask help to so you would have to waste a few minutes preparing it yourself. But with that kettle you may just program it to do it and by the time you arrive all you need to do is pour the water in the perfect temperature in your cup and put the teabag in it. I imagine it being as useful as a slowcooker. Just leave it to do its thing and by the time you’re home you got whatever you want ready for you.
I have a tea square. They used to cost more than that, I got mine when they first came down to 30 quid. It has a couple of issues – the most minor one is the suckers work too well on a stone worktop, it’s annoying but oh well. Also fairly minor is it takes up more space than IMHO it needs to, again not world-ending. Here’s it’s fatal flaw: as mentioned here it’s completely uncustomizable – they say "strong" brew, I say not long enough and now we have a problem. What if I want longer? What if I want to change the temp? It’s a bluetooth module and an app away from being absolutely excellent, but it isn’t – but it is worth 30 quid. I just wish they’d release a v2, I’d probably pay a lot of money for it with some customization.
It seems wasteful to go through all the effort of making the tea square but not give it options for white/green/black tea.
