Find someone on eBay to repair it. Worked fine. It’s called a BGA reflow process and is quite common in the component industry.
I have a MacBook Pro 2010 and have this problem, apple told me they don’t make the parts for my model anymore. It seems ridiculous that I don’t have a computer anymore because I can’t fix it.
Thanks for the advice… but that’s not something i can do at home…
Horrifying taste of music.
I wonder how many boards you fried with static using that "wireless" ESD wristband. That’s a hoax!
Is there a good way to line up the gpu properly if you dont have the expensive equipment you have? I have a lower end reflow machine, but I usually work on boards that have a square to help guide me.
Hi friend, I have a Macbook pro 2010 I5 2.4 ghz, it is restart unspectly several times everyday, question: the computer could be can fix it ..?? thanks for help
The website is sadly in dutch, which I do not understand. Can you tell me if there is a warranty? I got mine changed via the official Apple repair program and it failed AGAIN.
so if I don’t have all this extra equipment i can’t change the graphics’s card myself?
Is this a permanent solution? Or just a solution for a period of time ?
It looks professionally done.
please get a mf lens. i got dizzy after watched that.
Hi friend, I have a Macbook pro 2010 I5 2.4 ghz, it is restart unspectly several times everyday,it seems the nvidia graphic issue, question: the computer could be can fix it ..?? thanks for help
Sure, replacing the GPU unit may resolve the immediate issue, but why should I believe that the new GPU unit wouldn’t develop the same issue?
macbook pro 17 2011 how much you charge for this
How much would this repair cost?
How much you charge for Macbook pro A1211 ( 2006 ) motherboard gpu replacement ?
Y si rompes las pistas de base, ya no resulta.
just got the amd gpu replaced in my 2011 MBP. It sucks, although it takes only 3 days it’s quite expensive. Wonder if it will happen again. If it does maybe it’s time for a new laptop
what in the fuck is up with your screw management . If you’re wanting customers I’d suggest at least appearing professional in your repair tutorials
how can this be done at home? minius all those fancy tools? what tools and material are needed. I don’t know the name of all those materials used in this vid. i want pull my late 2011 intel chip from the liquid damage board and replace the early 2011 chip with it.
can we just remove without replace and use only Integrated Graphics.
how do I know if the GPU is replaced? not just only reballing the old GPU.
nice done!!
I have a macbook pro retina 13" late 2013. can I change it to an nvidia graphics card?
I have a question about my macbook pro 15" 2011 model. Some months ago I had the problem of discrete GPU and I had my logic board replaced. However the laptop has become very slow and very easily its temperature increases(even simple surfing the net, let alone doing a graphical process). I searched the net and noticed many who had this problem have had it again after couple of times after the repair (some after few months and some after a year).
My question is do you have any idea why this problem happens again? and do you think I should use the stress test on GPU to make it fail again?
what would you charge cost a customer for that service? and what does a new amd gpu cost?
remove the RAM too 😱
Yeah sure, started to go with this procedure, i just figured out the equippment used, cost more then Apple Departament of Reapir itself . Thnx btw
my macbook pro 15 i5 mid 2010 has a flicker screen crash which sometimes turns the laptop off and other times sends it into three beeps.
what could be the cause of this?
ta x
I don’t think the issue was resolved with this. You can clearly see the grey screen of death and then an editing trick at 5:21
you should remove memory ram before reflow 🙂
WOW WHAT A FIX !!!! Could you recommend someone in Western Canada who can do this ?? This would be incredible !!!
hi, my name is emmanuel from nigeria pls am having problem with my macbookpro 2011, i was told is the graphic card, please how call you fix it for me and if u fix it is it a permanent solution and how much will it cost me … please reply ASAP
whats the price for the whole equipment you have and where can I get it???
I have the same laptop and i’m afraid of the AMD gpu. Can i replace the AMD gpu with an nvidia geforce GT 650M? It is compatible?
Что-то я нифига не понял, что он сделал)
Wow. This looks very easy to do :/
why wear an ESD wrist strap if it isn’t connected to ground?
I have a Mac Book Pro 2012 and i want to know what type of graphic card is compatible ? Does a Iris Graphic 6100 can replace my Intel HD 4000 ?
Wireless ground straps don’t work watch eevblogs video on it
can a 6490m chip be changed with a 6750m chip?
Thanks mate, could you tell me what temperatures are required for the reflow process on this logic board?
do you guys accept US repairs?
won’t buy another mbp or mac again, with my 2010 mbp crashes

I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro with w failed GPU. What do you charge for replacement? Thanks
Is it a permanent fix for the problem? I heard it’s only a temporary fix for a few months before it will inevitably fail again…
How conveniently you forgot to mention that it can be fixed by Apple for free https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/
And that it was not AMD, but Apple mistake to choose wrong alloy for soldering.
Question! If you could please answer…
1) Which GPU IC was used that is compatible to fit this model logic board? Since I was told there aren’t any is why I ask.
2) After the upgrade to a better Graphic card, did the issue come back after a year or so? Cause as one tech told me, its really an overheating problem in MBP’s that cause the solder in the graphics card to loosen up, thus causing the graphics to go black, grey, double image or pixilate. He even fixed it by reflowing the chip with a higher temperature resistant solder, but only lasted for about a year before the solder loosened up again and back to same problem again. So I’m curious to know if a better graphics card was able to combat this overheating issue on the graphics card causing it to damage in the first place?
