* The suspect arrested in connection with the fire at Parliament is expected to make his second appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
* Tuesday morning, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will brief the media on her department’s state of readiness for the new school year.
Motshekga said yesterday that 10% of pupils had not yet been placed. Schools in inland provinces open on Wednesday.
* The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate has declined further to 14%.
2 409 new cases were recorded in the latest reporting cycle. Another 77 COVID-19 related deaths have been confirmed, bringing the total to 92 530 since the start of the pandemic.
